As Executive Headteacher I will be supporting Miss Doyle and the rest of the school team to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for your child to make progress both academically and holistically.

I want children to have an exceptional education and school experience providing them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make their way in the world.

I truly believe that every child deserves the same chance in education and feel very passionate that all children should have the same opportunities to succeed. I feel privileged to work in a career that I am whole heartedly committed to, and feel so passionate about.

Introducing Miss Doyle

Hello, I’m Miss Doyle, the Head of School and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) at our school. I am committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

As Head of School, I provide strategic leadership to ensure high-quality teaching, strong safeguarding practices, and a culture where wellbeing, inclusion, and achievement are at the heart of everything we do. Alongside this, in my role as SENCo, I lead on special educational needs provision, working closely with staff, parents and carers, and a range of external professionals to identify needs early and put effective, tailored support in place.

I am passionate about ensuring that all pupils feel valued, understood, and confident in their learning. My aim is to promote positive outcomes both academically and socially, and ensure every child is given the opportunity to thrive and succeed as an individual.

What inspired you to work in education?
I wanted to make a meaningful difference for pupils who often face unique challenges but have incredible potential. Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in a way that works for them.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
The best part of my day is when I see a child’s face light up in pure joy as they discover something new or find enjoyment in their learning. Those moments of excitement and pride make everything worthwhile.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
My vision is to provide a holistic and inclusive approach that recognises the strong connection between emotional wellbeing and academic success. By identifying individual needs early and offering targeted support, we can remove barriers to learning and help every pupil thrive.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
The teachers who supported me in school with my dyslexia inspired me to help other children with SEN because I saw how the right support can make a big difference.

To ensure the children are progressing in their learning and engaging in activities.

Get to know Mrs Halfpenny

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
I have always wanted to be a teacher since I can remember- I remember being a “teacher” at home with my dolls and teddys. I got to live this in 2005 when I graduated as a primary school teacher. My personal experience of Special Education was with my son, he has needed additional support since he was a toddler and the difference supportive, nurturing and understanding staff made, was immeasurable for him and us and I feel now I can give back and support your child/children in their journey.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?
Seeing the childrens personalities shine through. Every day is different and when they do something special, unique or just cheeky makes me smile.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
Knowing the children is vital, knowing their likes/dislikes. Listening to them and how they are feeling and getting to know any triggers. Every child is unique and what works for one, does not necessarily work for everyone- and this is vital for the wellbeing of the children. If their emotional and wellbeing needs are not understood, then their learning won’t be able to develop.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
My favourite part of the day is seeing the children walk into our classroom. They are always so happy.

My favourite children’s story is the Hungry Caterpillar!

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
I am at Adventure Wellbeing School to ensure that children feel cared for, are having fun, and develop important skills that will support them throughout life.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
I was inspired to work in education because I’ve always believed that learning has the power to change lives. Every student learns differently, and that’s what drew me to special education specifically. I wanted to be part of creating inclusive classrooms where every student has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and feel valued.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
The best part of my day is those powerful moments of progress, when a child suddenly achieves something they’ve been working so hard on. It might be a student finally writing their name independently, using a new communication aid successfully, or joining in a group activity for the first time. Seeing their pride and excitement and knowing I played a small part in helping them get there, is incredibly rewarding.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?
Working alongside such a caring, dedicated team who celebrate every little success together – it’s such a positive environment.

What’s your favourite children’s book or story?
My favourite children’s book is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson because it’s fun, clever, and full of imagination. The story also teaches a great lesson about using intelligence over strength.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?
When students build new relationships with other children and staff members, seeing them become more confident and grow as individuals.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
Creating a safe place for students where they enjoy coming to school. Promoting an inclusive practice approach, valuing diversity and ensuring all individuals can participate and reach their full potential with our support

What inspired you to work in education?
Studying sociology made me realise the impact of special education, particularly the importance of ensuring that children who are often overlooked feel seen and supported.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?
Always being busy in school and the children always bringing a funny thought or thoughtful question to brighten the day..

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
To make sure each child feels safe, understood and that they belong.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
I’ve always loved seeing the difference a good teacher can make in a child’s life. Early on, I realised how much encouragement and understanding can completely change the way a child feels about learning. That inspired me to focus on behaviour and inclusion, making sure every child feels supported and has the chance to shine.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
Definitely those “lightbulb moments” when something suddenly clicks for a student. Seeing their face light up with pride and confidence is the best feeling. It reminds me why I love what I do every single day.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?
The kids’ honesty and sense of humour. They come out with the funniest comments, and their little acts of kindness towards each other always make me smile. No two days are ever the same, and that’s what makes teaching so special.

What inspired you to work in education?
Allowing the children to fulfill their potential by supporting them socially, emotionally, and academically.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
The best part of my day is when a student masters something they’ve been struggling with.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
My vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing is to create an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and capable of being able to progress in there learning in their own way and at their own pace. When students feel emotionally supported, they’re more open to learning. I aim to provide consistent routines, clear expectations, and lots of positive reinforcement.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?

I have a passion for supporting children to reach their full potential. I have worked with children with special education for over fifteen years and have loved every minute of it.

What’s something that always makes you smile at work?

Children who are learning to communicate, and hearing those lovely first words, seeing those first signs and how their world changes because of it.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?

To have my classroom as a home away from home, a place children can learn, laugh and feel safe and comfortable to be their wonderful authentic selves.

Children’s physical, mental, and emotional health are at the heart of my vision, as these areas help them grow, learn, and develop the skills they need to reach their full potential.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
At about 9am every morning, once we’ve had toast for breakfast, Olive class sit together to share a story to calm ourselves and get ready for the school day.

I love the Gruffalo, my own children love it when I read each character in a different accent!

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
I want all the pupils at Adventure Wellbeing School to feel safe and happy enough to enjoy their learning whilst also being challenged to learn and grow.

The best part of my day is when I am able to help a pupil who may be struggling through a hard time, seeing them start to feel calmer and more engaged.

I hope to see students achieve their goals and thrive in their school life, home life and future after school.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
I have worked in a school for 25 years and have always loved working with children. I have always wanted to help children and to contribute to their learning and to help pupils overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning is the rewarding part of working in a SEN school.

What’s the best part of your day in school?
The best part of my day in school is seeing the children’s faces when they overcome a challenge. Witnessing children’s growth in confidence and seeing their moments of understanding in a “aha” moment.

What is your favourite children’s book?
My favourite children’s book is a family favourite of mine The Gruffalo. It helps children understand important lessons about problem solving, friendship and the food chain.

What inspired you to work in education/special education?
I’ve always enjoyed helping others and working with children, and I wanted to be part of something that makes a real difference.

What’s your favourite children’s book or story?
Matilda by Roald Dahl ! I love how clever and brave she is, and how her teacher believes in her. It’s such an inspiring story.

What’s your vision for supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing?
I want every child to feel safe, happy, and confident. I think it’s really important to support both their learning and emotions, so they feel understood and ready to do their best.
